Calm For Kids was set up in 1999 by Christiane Kerr. We have grown and developed over the years and our approach to teaching yoga to children remains fresh and innovative. We are committed to giving teachers the skills to enhance children’s development through yoga and mindfulness practice, enabling them to use their inner resources to face life’s challenges. We are a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School.
Christiane has been teaching yoga to children and adults for many years. She is a qualified yoga teacher and as an experienced Montessori teacher, she is an early years specialist. She combined her love of yoga with her love of teaching and children to create Calm For Kids. Christiane completed the British Wheel of Yoga accredited London Yoga Teacher Trainig Course. This is run by leading UK yoga teachers and is directly influenced by the teachings of Vanda Scaravelli. This style of yoga has a fresh, practical and intelligent approach to yoga that considers the needs of individual students regardless of age or ability. Christiane has also completed the Sivananda ashram training course and has practised Iyengar and Dynamic yoga giving her a diverse range of styles and influences to draw on. In 2014 Christiane trained to teach MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) with Bangor Universtiy. She has also trained to teach MBSR to teenagers.
As well as directing the training courses and writing and producing the Calm For Kids CD range, Christiane teaches yoga in primary and secondary schools.
She is a BWY teacher and is the children’s advisor on the board of Yoga Alliance.
